System/Desktop phones versus soft-phones
A system/desktop phone is still a very good option even though the popularity of soft-phone is increasing. Users that often need to make calls, transfer calls or are part of a call-center are better of using a desk-phone then using a soft-phone. This is due to the fact that a desk-phone is dedicated to the job and a soft-phone is not, as it is running on an operating system (Windows / Apple OSX) that can influence the availability of the phone. For example the operating system can decide to go to sleep, meaning your phone will also go to sleep. Or when you answer you notice that the other party isn't hearing you or you are not hearing them (Sounds familiar?). That is why you should always consider buying desk phones, especially in the previously mentioned categories.
